What’s WordPress?

WordPress is one of the biggest publishing tools today, and it’s been really great since it started 2003. I’ve been using it for over one year, but in such a short time I have taught me a lot about WordPress. Many people mention WordPress as a CMS, which means Content Management System. That’s exactly what it is, and it’s a great one.
Don’t think that WordPress is just to create blogs, you can do so much more with WordPress. Many websites I know are based on WordPress, and I think that’s just great. But still, WordPress is the best blogging tool right now, according to me.
There is lots of fun in WordPress, and with the new versions coming there will be LOTS of functions and options.
One of my personal favourites are threaded comments, that were introduced in version 2.7 (theme with support for this required). Another great feature is the custom fields. With custom fields you can do very much to your post design, title, images etc.
WordPress is built on PHP and MySQL, and is licensed under the GPL. Don’t worry if you cannot code in PHP, it’s not necessary.
There’s lots of themes and plugins for WordPress, and that’s probebly the best about WordPress. You can find themes here, and plugins here. Of course, all themes and plugins aren’t listed in the official directory.
More is coming…
